Composer, arranger, member of Polish Composers Union and the winner of 17 composer competitions- most important of them are: Kazimierz Serocki International Competition, Grzegorz Fitelberg Composers Competition, Tadeusz Baird Nationwide Young Composers Competition, “Musica Sacra” composers competition, First Nationwide Composers Competition for Students of Music Academy in Poland, among others

In 1997 and 2006 he received The Minister of Culture and Art scholarship. In 2005 he also received ZAiKS scholarship

    He graduated from the F.Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in prof. Marian Borkowski class of composition (first class honours). During the period of studies at the secondary school he took composition lessons with Stanislaw Czarnecki .

His music was performed at various festivals in Poland and abroad, eg. by: the Polish Radio Orchestra, Croation Radio-Television Symphony Orchestra, Polish Symphony Orchestra in Kielce, Polish Symphony Orchestra in Czestochowa, Chamber orchestra “Leopolis” (Lvov),  “Schola Cantorum Gedanensis” choir, Camerata String Quartet, Chamberbrass, Warsaw Brass, Kwartludium and others.

His compositions were performed among others at: ISCM World Music Days (Music Biennale Zagreb 2005), Warsaw Music Encounters Festiwal, Generacje (Generations) Festival, „Musica Polonica Nova” Festival, Warsaw Autumn Festival (youth composers group), at “Audioart”  festival  2003, at “Laboratorim” festival, many times at “Gaude Mater” fesival in Czestochowa, and many times at “Uczniowskie Forum Muzyczne”, and at 45^th anniversary of Experimental Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw.

As an arranger he has worked for Waldemar Malicki (symphonic arranges for TVP program), for polish saxophonist  Alina Mleczko (La Fiesta CD)

   As an instrumentalist Bartosz Kowalski takes part in various concert of improvisation music. He play the trumpet, french horn, saxhorn, piano, guitars, pipes and different kind of freak instruments. He played together with: Krzysztof Knittel, Michal Gorczynski, Tadeusz Sudnik, Jerzy Kornowicz, Ryszard Latecki, Tomasz Duda and Mateusz Debski.

Sometimes Bartosz uses pseudo: “Bartmuz”. (usually as a performer)
